Speculation surrounding Michael Olise and Real Madrid shows no signs of abating. It was precisely during this period that Bayern President Herbert Hainer visited the Spanish record champions—and once again highlighted the close relationship between the two clubs.

Michael Olise remains one of the most talked-about players on the international transfer market. For weeks, Spanish media have been linking the FC Bayern forward with Real Madrid. Although Los Blancos recently officially denied actively courting the Frenchman, the rumors persist.

A visit by Bayern President Herbert Hainer to Madrid is now drawing additional attention.

Just a few days ago, Hainer told the Abendzeitung München that Real Madrid had sought direct contact with FC Bayern. “We at FC Bayern have a very good relationship with Real, and accordingly, they contacted me to say that, first of all, they have absolutely no contact with Michael Olise, and second, they don’t want this constant speculation in the media,” the Bayern president revealed.

In doing so, Hainer contradicted ongoing reports from Spain suggesting that Olise remains at the top of Real Madrid’s wish list.

Bayern has great respect for Real

Just how close the bond between the two clubs is has now become evident even outside the transfer market. Herbert Hainer accepted an invitation from Real President Florentino Pérez and attended the graduation ceremony at Real Madrid University at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. There, the Bayern boss delivered a speech to the graduates.

“It’s a great day for me and an honor to be here as president of FC Bayern Munich and to give a speech in a place where the heart of Real Madrid beats and where the future of Real Madrid lies,” Hainer said.

He then addressed the hosts directly. “Dear Florentino Pérez, dear Emilio Butragueño, and esteemed members of the Real Madrid board of directors, thank you very much for this extraordinary invitation.”

Hainer particularly emphasized the special relationship between the two top European clubs. “Of course, there is a rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich, but above all, there is deep respect between us.”

“One of the great leaders in world sports”

Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez also had warm words for his guest from Munich. “Dear Herbert, thank you very much for joining us today and serving as a role model for these students. We all admire the professional career of one of the great leaders in world sports.”

The 78-year-old paid special tribute to Hainer’s career as the long-time head of adidas, as well as his work at FC Bayern. “Herbert Hainer is regarded as one of the best CEOs in the world and is a role model for leadership and professional success.”

In closing, Pérez emphasized the special bond between the two clubs. “Both clubs, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, have together written some of the most extraordinary chapters in European soccer. Your presence at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is a great inspiration for our students.”

Regardless of the ongoing speculation surrounding Michael Olise, both clubs thus publicly demonstrated their excellent relationship. Meanwhile, FC Bayern’s stance has not changed: The Munich-based club is planning for the long term with the French national team player and continues to view a sale as out of the question.
