Valencia began the week with positive news as Thierry Rendall rejoined full training at Paterna, according to Deportes Cope Valencia. The full-back worked with the main group, a step towards full recovery.
With LaLiga paused until five April, Valencia host Celta Vigo at 16:15 on the Sunday. The respite gives the Portuguese and any team-mates carrying knocks time to heal without haste.
Captain José Gayà did not take to the training pitch. He spent a few hours under observation in a Sevilla hospital after two head impacts in duels with Juanlu Sánchez at the Sánchez Pizjuán.
Gayà travelled back with the squad soon after the match and his progress is favourable. With head injuries demanding caution and the schedule easing, he has not rejoined outdoor work.
Rendall missed the trip to Sevilla with hamstring discomfort, his return on Tuesday offers optimism over involvement in upcoming fixtures. At the Pizjuán the staff used centre-back Unai Núñez at full-back, and given his display and the back line’s solidity, further minutes on the right cannot be ruled out.
Swiss midfielder Filip Ugrinic remains apart, working with physiotherapists as he continues his recovery. After a long absence from Murat Yakin’s squad he had been recalled by Switzerland, and the target is to be ready for Valencia v Celta.
