Clashes of team-mates, vital points and more

For seven of our youngsters, the international break brought drama and important action. You can find a breakdown of how our Red Bulls fared with their national teams in World Cup and European Championship qualifiers here.

  1. Alexander Schlager watched the historic 10-0 World Cup qualifying win against San Marino from the bench. Our goalkeeper then played in the away match against Romania, where he unfortunately had no chance of stopping the hosts' late winner. Nevertheless, the Austrian national team remains at the top of their qualifying group and, with two games remaining, have a great chance of securing a World Cup spot.

  • Tim Trummer made two starts for Austria U21. A tie against Denmark (90 minutes of action) ended in a 1-1 draw, followed by a bitter 2-0 defeat to Wales. However, five of the eight rounds of European Championship qualifiers are still to be played. Salko Hamzic and Jannik Schuster were in the squad but didn't play.
  • Christian Zawieschitzky kept goal for Austria U19 in European Championship qualifiers against Slovenia and Luxembourg, keeping a clean sheet in both victories (1-0 and 4-0, respectively). Our goalkeeper watched the 3-1 victory against Israel from the bench.
  • Kerim Alajbegovic and the Bosnia-Herzegovina senior team suffered a setback after conceding a late goal to be held 2-2 in their World Cup qualifier in Cyprus. Our young creative attacker was in the starting line-up (and was substituted off in the 65th minute). Kerim then came on in the 67th minute of the 4-1 friendly win against Malta.
  • Clement Bischoff played the full 90 minutes for Denmark's U21 team in their European Championship qualifier against Austria, providing the assist for an equaliser in a 1-1 draw. In the clash with Belgium, the Danes suffered a 2-0 defeat, with Clement being substituted off in the 85th minute.
