Switzerland were beaten 3-2 by Wales despite a goal from Iman Beney, while Aoba Fujino and Yui Hasegawa helped Japan beat Canada in the final round of November international friendlies.
Beney featured for the full 90 minutes and grabbed her nation’s second goal of the afternoon to set up a nervy finish in Spain.
Capitalising on a loose ball, the teenager jinked onto her left foot and fired back across goal into the bottom corner to halve the deficit.
The Swiss were 3-1 down after goals from Sophie Ingle, Hannah Cain and Lily Woodham, and Beney went close to grabbing an equaliser late on, only to scuff an effort wide of the mark.
Elsewhere, Hasegawa and Fujino both started in Nagasaki, with Ayaka Yamashita and Canada defender Jade Rose both unused substitutes in the second of two international friendlies between the sides.
Japan had cruised to a 3-0 win in the previous meeting, in which Fujino rounded off the scoring, but the latest showdown was a much tighter affair.
Mina Tanaka grabbed the game’s only goal on the stroke of half-time, with Hasegawa replaced at the break by Bayern Munich’s Momoko Tanikawa.

Fujino featured for 79 minutes, with West Ham’s Riko Ueki coming on for the City winger as Japan saw out the victory.
There’s plenty more action to come in the final international break fixtures later this evening.
Rebecca Knaak and Leila Ouahabi are competing in the UEFA Nations League final, while Lauren Hemp, Grace Clinton and Laura Blindkilde Brown could feature for England in a friendly against Ghana.
Kerstin Casparij and Vivianne Miedema’s Netherlands and Eartha Cumings’ Scotland are also in action against South Korea and China respectively.
