Investigation Following Collapse: Initial All-Clear for Musiala! | OneFootball

On Saturday, FC Bayern faced RB Leipzig in the Telekom Cup at the Allianz Arena. For the record champions, this was an important test of their mettle, which they managed to win 3-1. 

However, there were a few scary moments for the record champions. Relatively early in the game, Konrad Laimer was substituted after picking up an injury; in the second half, Minjae Kim and Jamal Musiala also had to come off early.

Like Laimer, Kim had a thigh injury; Musiala even caused a brief scare when he collapsed on the field and appeared to briefly lose consciousness.

An emergency doctor rushed onto the field immediately, but the all-clear was given—albeit cautiously—shortly thereafter. The doctor gave a thumbs-up, and Musiala was able to leave the field on his own, though he appeared slightly dazed.

Immediately after the game, players like Manuel Neuer and Leipzig’s Rocco Reitz, who was close to the action, were unable to provide an update. BILD reported early on that the heat was taking a toll on Bayern’s star forward.

According to Sport1, the attacking player has since been examined by FC Bayern’s medical staff. This examination, conducted right in the locker room, revealed that there were no major issues.

Instead, Musiala complained of dizziness and circulatory problems due to the heat. Temperatures at the Allianz Arena reached nearly 35 degrees that afternoon, and the heat stress was high.

According to the report, Musiala will now rest and recover over the next two days, after which he should be able to resume training as usual. In the best-case scenario, therefore, he is unlikely to miss the match against BVB this coming weekend.

Nevertheless, it was important to react quickly and take him off the field. Consulting the emergency doctor on the field was also the right decision.
