There was quite a comical moment during the first half of AC Milan’s 1-1 draw with Inter involving Theo Hernandez and Simone Inzaghi.

In the 38th minute of the eventual draw, Rafael Leao had dropped deeper to receive a pass and Theo set off sprinting down the left wing. The issue, as he awaited the through ball from the Portuguese winger, was that he had to arc his run around the Inter manager.

Why is that? Well, because Inzaghi was stood well outside of his technical area. The Frenchman did eventually get on the end of the ball, but it does raise questions about where he might have got to it had he been able to make a straight run.

One X user even joked that Inzaghi had been guilty of ‘man-marking’ the left-back, such was his proximity to the touchline. Coaches do regularly come out of their technical area – Sergio Conceicao included – but usually when they cannot impact play like that.
