Ipswich Town's Sindre Walle Egeli has revealed his frustration with his lack of minutes, as Bristol City and West Ham should prepare loan moves
Following their return to the Premier League, Ipswich Town spent in excess of £189 million on new arrivals to prepare for the trials and tribulations of the top flight, and as a result, some players have fallen as casualties of competition.
Indeed, Ipswich outspent the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus over the summer, as Gary O'Neil well and truly stamped his authority on the Tractor Boys squad.
The Suffolk-based outfit can boast a plethora of attacking options, with the likes of Julio Enciso, Emersonn, Kasey McAteer, Anis Mehmeti, Jack Clarke, Jaden Philogene, Abdul Fatawu, Zian Flemming, Daizen Maeda, Chuba Akpom, and Sindre Walle Egeli all vying for a place in the side.
With Ipswich playing a front three more often than not, competition in the final third at Portman Road has never been higher, as Norwegian forward Walle Egeli has found out brutally.

Walle Egeli, 20, joined Ipswich in the summer of 2025 for a then-Championship record fee of £17.5 million from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.
However, the young winger has since found it difficult to nail down a place in the side under Kieran McKenna previously or O'Neill now, having made just one Premier League appearance this season and being left out of the squad entirely on three occasions.
He has since revealed his frustration with his situation, saying: "It was an amazing feeling to win promotion, but you don't go into a Premier League season without having to fight for your spot. I knew there would be stiff competition.
"It’s been frustrating that it happened so suddenly. I’ve essentially been completely out of the picture since then."
Having signed a five-year deal, Walle Egeli has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon, at least permanently, as Football League World has taken a look at two Championship clubs that should be interested in making a loan swoop for the Norwegian this January if his current situation remains unchanged.

Bristol City have looked bright since Michael Skubala assumed control over the summer, and underwent a big overhaul of their own, bringing in as many as 11 new faces to Ashton Gate in the most recent window.
The Robins sit in 8th place in the Championship heading into the international break, and Robins supporters will have few complaints with how things have gone at the moment.
The former Lincoln City boss has switched Bristol City into a 4-2-3-1 shape since his arrival, moving on from their preferred back three formation, now putting much more emphasis on wingers.
However, their current wide options are nothing out of the ordinary, with the likes of Jed Wallace, Yu Hirakawa, and Sam Bell their only out-and-out recognised senior wingers, and whilst both Scott Twine and Sam Greenwood can operate there, the Robins could still do with some improvement come January.
With just two loans in their squad, there is room for a few more, as this should be an avenue they consider exploring in the winter window, as Walle Egeli could be an excellent fit.
The Norwegian, should he return to the English second tier, will surely feel as though he has a point to prove, and with an abundance of energy and talent, Bristol City should be looking to become the benefactors of that.
Capable of playing on either flank, the former Championship record purchase ought to be high up on numerous clubs' lists this winter, as Bristol City would be remiss to not be one of them.

West Ham United have an abundance of attacking talent, and finding areas where the Hammers could realistically improve in the January window is pretty difficult.
Manor Solomon, Edvin Austbo, Joel Piroe, and Divine Mukasa each arrived at the London Stadium over the summer to reinforce Nuno Espírito Santo's attacking options, adding to the likes of Pablo Felipe, Taty Castellanos, and Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen's place on the right flank is as nailed down as anybody else's in the Championship, in truth, but with a lack of alternatives on that side of the pitch, the England international faces the potential risk of burning out.
Someone who can come on to replace him if the Hammers are cruising, or who can start ahead of him when he needs a rest, should have been prioritised in the recent window, and whilst some of their current squad can operate out there, there is not a clear other option.
Walle Egeli, at 20, has been used to a winning environment throughout his professional career with both Nordsjaelland and Ipswich, and adapting to that at West Ham ought to be seamless.
Whilst he would initially be a backup, there is no reason why he couldn't force his way into the side over Solomon or Austbo on the left flank if he performs well, and offering an alternative to rest Bowen, he could be the perfect cheap fit.
