Anna Patten makes an important block in the box as Eleni Saich got a shot away, Courtney Brosnan saved well to deny Ionna Papatheodorou.

Veatriki Sarri was not far over the top of the Ireland goal from distance, but half-time substitutes for the visitors quickly made a difference as the Irish began taking control.

Katie McCabe hit a free kick over the bar and Marissa Sheva’s 20-yard drive deflected off a defender’s leg to open the scoring in the 49th minute.

Leanne Kiernan connected with McCabe’s cross to the far post and although goalkeeper Zoi Sasi made the save, Kyra Carusa slid in to double the lead.

Denise O’Sullivan almost scored through the keeper’s legs but from the resulting corner taken by McCabe, Jessie Stapleton did very well to direct a header home.

Carusa had the ball in the net again but was given offside, Aoife Mannion’s close-range shot was blocked for a corner but Amber Barrett fired in the fourth in stoppage time.

Ireland next host Greece on Tuesday, 7.30pm at Tallaght Stadium.
