João Cancelo has returned to Al-Hilal training in Riyadh after almost a month away, keeping his future under scrutiny.

According to Goal.com, the club shared images on Friday of arrivals for a first session at the Al-Majidiyah Sports Centre after their Austria camp, with the Portuguese full-back among them and with his return coinciding with talk of Barcelona persuading Al-Hilal to accept a permanent deal worth around 10 million euros.

He had missed the overseas camp in recent weeks. Claims he did so without permission, amid a push to join Barcelona, were later denied, with the absence described as pre-arranged.

The 32-year-old spent the second half of last season at Barcelona on loan from Al-Hilal, impressing head coach Hansi Flick. That form has left the door open to a longer stay.

Cancelo joined Al-Hilal in summer 2024 from Manchester City and excelled in his first season. The second told a different story, as he was omitted from the domestic squad and began edging towards the exit.
