Nottingham Forest will hope the Europa League does not prove an unwelcome distraction from their survival fight as they take on Midtjylland in the round of 16.
A more-than-handy draw against Manchester City in their last outing has kept Forest out of the Premier League’s bottom three, but only on goal difference ahead of West Ham in a battle likely to run and run.
This competition has proved useful before, though, with a 3-0 win at Fenerbahce in the knockout play-off round injecting energy after the installation of Vitor Pereira as manager.
Midtjylland will provide a stern test, though – the Danish club were beaten only once in the league phase to finish third in the table.
Here’s everything you need to know.
The first leg of the Europa League tie is due to kick off at 8pm GMT on Thursday 12 March at the City Ground in Nottingham.
Viewers in the United Kingdom can watch the match live on TNT Sports 1, with coverage on the channel from 7.45pm GMT. A live stream will be available via discovery+.
Nottingham Forest remain without Chris Wood, Willy Boly, John Victor and Nicolo Savona. Matz Sels has been restored to their Europa League squad and could continue in goal after Stefan Ortega’s calf issue.
The free-scoring Franculino Dju is still sidelined for Midtjylland in a blow to their attacking stocks, while Dario Osorio is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
