Isa Cardoso suffers ACL injury and rues spell on sidelines for Sereias da Vila

Sereias da Vila defender Isa Cardoso has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and voiced her sadness at being sidelined.
The injury came in a 1-0 defeat to São Paulo in the sixth round of the Paulista F at Gabriel Santana de Marques in Santana de Parnaíba on Thursday 13. The number six started but was forced off after eight minutes of the first half. She said in a post that the news was hard to process, that time away hurts, and that having overcome the same injury before she believes she can do so again and return stronger.
Signed in January on a deal through December, the defender is likely to have her contract renewed following the ACL injury.
Since joining, she has made four appearances in the state competition and scored one goal in nine matches in the Brasileiro A-1.
Born in Campinas, Isabela Martins Cardoso began playing at eight, then moved to United States college football at 18, studying Business Management and featuring for FNU Conquistadors and Northern Michigan University. She returned to Brazil with Athletico Paranaense for two seasons, before joining Nacional (Uruguai) in 2025, where she won the Uruguayan championship. She turns 29 in December.
