Ismaël Gharbi joins Leganés on loan from Braga with option to buy | OneFootball

Ismaël Gharbi has joined CD Leganés on loan from SC Braga. The Tunisian international, 22, will play in Spain's second tier this season, with an option to buy included.

The Madrid club announced the deal on Thursday. Leganés finished 16th in last season's Liga Hypermotion.

Gharbi, a Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate, left on a free in summer 2024 to sign for Braga. This is the fifth club of his professional career, and he can operate as a playmaker or out wide.

He did not establish himself at PSG, making only 12 first-team appearances before a 2023-2024 loan to Lausanne. He came through the academy at PSG from 2016 to 2024.

He scored four goals in 38 outings during his first year in Portugal. A subsequent loan to Augsburg proved less fruitful, with only seven Bundesliga matches and no goals last season.

Born in Paris to a Tunisian father and Spanish mother, he represented France U18 and Spain U18-U19 before committing to Tunisia's senior side ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He has 20 caps and two goals, and played at the North American World Cup this summer as Tunisia exited at the group stage after three defeats in Group F.
