Ismaila Sarr just loves playing against Liverpool. The Crystal Palace winger netted twice in his side’s 3-0 win at Anfield on Wednesday night, to send the Eagles into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Sarr’s double made it four goals for the Senegal international against Liverpool this season, while he boasts a brilliant career record against the Reds.
The winger memorably scored his first goals against Liverpool for former club Watford in 2019/20. Sarr struck twice as The Hornets upset the then-runaway Premier League leaders at Vicarage Road.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had set the record for the best-ever start to a top-flight season in Europe’s top five leagues, and had won a record-equalling 18 consecutive Premier League games, before Sarr’s brace ended their unbeaten run.
Since then, and a move to Crystal Palace, via Marselle, Sarr has improved his record against the Reds. He’s scored five times in his last four meetings with Liverpool in all competitions.
That run includes a crucial goal in the Community Shield win in August and has swelled his total to seven goals in nine appearances against the Merseysiders.
