Ismaila Sarr will miss Crystal Palace’s first home match of the season against Manchester City because of a groin issue, amid interest from Liverpool and Galatasaray.

Palace host Man City at Selhurst Park on Friday night looking to respond to an opening-weekend defeat to Everton. According to The Standard, Sarr was a surprise omission from the squad at the Hill Dickinson Stadium following reports of a £30million offer from Galatasaray.

It later emerged the 28-year-old had complained of groin pain and did not train in the two days leading up to the Everton game. The same problem rules him out of the City fixture.

Pierre Sage said Sarr is working individually, remains in discomfort with his groin and therefore did not join full training. He added they will prepare the winger when he is ready, admitting he had hoped for a quicker return but will wait on medical guidance.

Sarr’s future this summer remains unclear with the window due to close on the first of September. Liverpool have carried out checks on the winger, though there have been no bids or formal talks so far. The Reds have reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola and still want two wide attackers before the deadline.
