Chelsea are trying to sign midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan from Juventus this month in some fresh transfer news that came out.
It came from nowhere really, even if we had been hearing some whispers that Chelsea could still look to make more new signings this window, even after their attempts to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. And one position that was floated around was a new midfielder.#
And here we are now, talking about Chelsea starting talks to sign a new midfielder, albeit on a loan move only until the end of the season.
The Blues obviously feel that they need more cover in that area, and you’d imagine that it has something to do with fatigue after the amount of games they have to play, protecting players like Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, and covering another what seems to be long term injury to Romeo Lavia, and a mysterious situation around Dario Essugo, who has barely featured at all since arriving in the summer.

On both of the above players, The Daily Mail put out a report yesterday and said that Essugo has been missing from the match-day squads against Brentford and Pafos and not seen in training sessions.
Romeo Lavia has not appeared since early November, and no timeframe has been placed on his return. The report goes on to say that Essugo’s issue remains a mystery, with the club not commenting on his absence.
So we have no idea when either player will be back playing for Chelsea again. And I guess you can assume that with Luiz potentially coming in now, then we might not see them again this season.
