But even still, there is plenty going on and plenty of interviews and quotes to hone in on.

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel for example, has just put out his latest Podcast episode, and there is always some interesting bits in those. He believes that Chelsea still lack the experience to win the Premier League this season, and he’s probably right there.

Another former Blue, Ruud Gullit, has also been doing an interview this week speaking about all things Chelsea, especially current Chelsea. Gullit is backing Enzo Maresca and says that he doesn’t understand any criticism around him.

Carragher on Chelsea

Jamie Carragher speaking on the Overlap.

As cited on X today, Carragher said on Chelsea:

“I think the problem with Chelsea is, I think they’ve, obviously bought a lot of players. They’ve got a big squad, but a lot of the players are the same.

“It feels like every player is the same when they swap them. So I think when you’re a manager, you’ve got the options, and it’s not like one’s like a superstar and the other one’s just okay. So you’re always gonna pick the main one.

“If you you know the front three, you could have a different front three, and it wouldn’t completely change the sort of level of the team.”

He rates Maresca

Carragher also had this to say on Maresca:

“I’m a fan of Maresca. The way he sets his teams. Everything is really good tactically.”
