‘It genuinely doesn’t bother me’ – Carrick dismisses pressure after Brighton defeat | OneFootball

Michael Carrick insists he does not feel under pressure despite Manchester United crashing out of the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 defeat to Brighton.

United’s latest setback continued a difficult run of results, with Carrick’s side having won just one of their last four games, and some supporters voiced their frustration after the final whistle.

Carrick accepted responsibility for the team’s results but dismissed suggestions that external pressure is affecting him.

“When we win people will say I’m doing a good job and if we don’t win or get results then a lot of it is on me,” he said.

“I accept that, I’m not hiding away from any of that. It is what it is.

“No, I don’t feel under pressure. That doesn’t bother me one bit. It genuinely doesn’t bother me.”

The United boss remains confident his side can turn their form around quickly.

“Of course we can turn it around,” Carrick added. “We’ve got some really good players.

“It feels bad at the moment because we haven’t had a great week or two or three weeks but it doesn’t mean you can’t win another game of football quickly.

“The players have shown before what they’re capable of doing and we have as a group. But it doesn’t count for much, it’s always about what happens next.”

Carrick also addressed the boos from sections of the support and admitted the mood around the club currently feels worse than simply one cup defeat.

“We know it’s there whether it’s good or not good,” he said. “It’s pretty obvious.

“It feels pretty quick, a couple of things go one way and we’ve gone out of the cup tonight.

“The feeling around the place feels bigger than that, I’ll be honest about that, that’s how it feels, but it doesn’t have to be like that.

“If we win football matches again it can go in a different direction.”
