FC Bayern are facing the next big test in the Champions League. Chief Sports Officer Max Eberl has taken a clear position ahead of the top match at Arsenal FC – and makes it clear what lies ahead for his team.

The German record champions travel to London with a tailwind from the Bundesliga and the top flight. Munich lead the Champions League standings together with Arsenal and Inter Milan – all three teams are level on points.

„We’ve continued our impressive run in the Bundesliga and are unbeaten,“ emphasized Eberl ahead of the trip to England. „We’re also top of the Champions League table, level on points with Arsenal and Inter, so we’re looking forward to the game in London.“

The sporting director shows great respect for the opponents: „Arsenal have a very good squad, have been very stable in recent years and have continued to strengthen.“ Eberl is particularly impressed by the Gunners‘ style of play: „Arsenal are a top team, with a top defence, a very good structure and extremely strong players who can score goals, press high – similar to us. I think it will be a very intense game.“

The clash against the Londoners is another test of strength for FCB against an absolute top club – a game that carries a lot of weight not only in sporting terms, but also symbolically. „After our game in Paris, it’s our second top game – again it’s first against second. It’s a big task that lies ahead of us,“ explained Eberl. „But we’re looking forward to it, we can go there with a lot of confidence, but we have to play our best game.“

The clash with Arsenal promises excitement at the highest level – and will be a real test of Munich’s ambitions. Kick-off is at 9pm on Wednesday evening at the Emirates Stadium in London.
