Corriere dello Sport delivered another harsh verdict on Inter Milan’s 3-1 defeat to Napoli, writing that the team collapsed mentally and structurally and Manuel Akanji performed particularly poorly.

The Corriere noted that the woodwork hit by Bastoni and Dumfries offered only false hope, calling Inter’s defensive phase “embarrassing”.

Furthermore, they warned of “dangerous signals” in what is already the team’s third Serie A defeat.

The lowest score of all went to Manuel Akanji, described as the symbol of the collapse.

The paper wrote that he was “slow in his marking, watches Spinazzola as he triggers McTominay, and is left chasing Anguissa on the 3–1,” awarding him a 4.

Just above him was Francesco Acerbi, graded 4.5, sharing that mark with Ange-Yoan Bonny.

CdS argued that the back line simply failed to read danger at any decisive moment.

A long list of players were rated 5, including Bastoni, Dumfries, Dimarco, Zielinski, Lautaro and Chivu.

Furthermore, CdS even endorsed Conte’s anger at the Inter captain.

The midfield and bench fared only slightly better: Sommer, Barella, Frattesi, Sucic, Mkhitaryan and Pio Esposito were given 5.5.

The only positive note, according to CdS, was Hakan Calhanoglu, graded 6 and praised as “the most dangerous from distance, scorer from the spot, and the only one to bring order and threat.”

However, the Roman daily concluded that Inter “switched off after the interval and never switched on again.”

Indeed, pointing to a collective drop in attitude as much as performance.
