La Gazzetta dello Sport reports ex-Italy CT Cesare Prandelli is the leading candidate to become the new Federal Technical Director, while Demetrio Albertini has resigned as the President of the Technical Sector.
Italian football is experiencing a mini-revolution within its technical department. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Prandelli, an ex-Azzurri coach from 2010 to 2014, is expected to be named the new Federal Technical Director.
Prandelli reached the Euro 2012 Final, losing 4-0 to Spain, but failed to qualify for the World Cup knockout phase two years later, resigning after a defeat against Uruguay.

Italy currently don’t have a Federal Technical Director, so Prandelli’s appointment would be news for Italian football.
The Federal Technical Director will coordinate the technical sector, the youth sector, and Club Italia, a body that reunites all the Italian national teams, from the senior squad to the youth sector.
President Gabriele Gravina will name the successful candidate and a new President of the Technical Sector, with Mario Beretta seen as the most likely option.
Ex-Milan and Barcelona midfielder Albertini had been serving as the President of the Technical Sector for the last six years, but he confirmed his resignation on X on Saturday morning.
