Italy’s Raspadori sent back to Atalanta and will miss France and Turkiye games through injury | OneFootball

Giacomo Raspadori has been released from the Italy squad and will miss both remaining Nations League fixtures.

According to Tuttosport, the FIGC confirmed on Tuesday evening that the Atalanta forward “underwent instrumental tests and, having been confirmed unavailable for the coming matches, will return to his club.”

That rules him out of Friday’s trip to face Zinedine Zidane’s France at the Stade de France and the return against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5.

Mancini splits the squad after Bursa as Raspadori heads home

Raspadori rested entirely as the rest of the group returned to work at Coverciano following the overnight flight back from Turkiye, where the Azzurri won 4-1.

Roberto Mancini divided his players in two. The ten who stayed behind rather than travelling to Bursa, along with those who did not start there, worked on the pitch and in the gym with attack-versus-defence drills and small-sided games.

Everyone else did recovery work, with those who played using the pool and cryotherapy facilities at Fiorentina’s Viola Park, available because Paolo Vanoli’s squad do not resume until Wednesday.

Tactical preparation for Paris has been pushed back to Wednesday afternoon’s session.

The loss is not ideal given Italy’s forward line has been a talking point since the Belgium defeat, though Monday’s 4-1 win in Bursa eased the mood considerably. Mancini may also rotate again for Bologna, sparing another group the trip to France.
