As Real Madrid brace themselves for the arrival of Jose Mourinho as the new manager, the club are likely to go after a few talents in the Portuguese league.
Mourinho is well-versed in the league and could help unearth some of the best talents. One of them is Morten Hjulmand, a player Mourinho is already interested in.
At 26, the defensive midfielder is not a young prodigy by any means. But he has been a consistent performer for Sporting CP and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the league.
In recent weeks, he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, to which the player has now reacted.

In a recent interaction with Record, Hjulmand broke his silence about his future, especially amid interest from Real Madrid.
However, he refused to comment too much about his future, even though he did acknowledge the interest from Los Blancos.
“It’s a great honour for me to see my name associated with a club like Real Madrid, but I’m at Sporting and I have a lot of love for this club. Therefore, my focus is on being here and tomorrow’s game,” he said.
Hjulmand, though, confirmed that he would talk about his future after the Portuguese cup final against Torreense. “I’ll talk about my future after tomorrow’s game, that’s for sure,” he said.

It is clear that Hjulmand is interested in a move to Real Madrid but simply does not want to talk about his future ahead of an important game.
This is good news for Los Blancos, who could welcome the services of a new defensive midfielder who can control the tempo in the middle of the park.
Hjulmand, to that end, could be an interesting cost-effective option compared to other targets such as Rodri and Enzo Fernandez, with Real Madrid not willing to break the bank for either stars.
The Dane is yet to prove himself at the highest level of football, but he could be a handy option for Real Madrid due to his all-round ability in midfield.
