It was announced today that former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville — along with his media channel The Overlap— have partnered with Wave Sports + Entertainment (Wave) to launch It’s Called Soccer!— an all-new digital series launching on September 18, 2024.

Buzz16, a Miroma Group company, will produce the series, with Wave overseeing sales and distribution in the U.S.

Neville will co-host the show alongside fellow football star and commentator, Jamie Carragher, and acclaimed broadcaster — and the face of NBC’s Premier League coverage — Rebecca Lowe.

Each week, the trio will discuss and debate the biggest leagues from around the world, the strongest clubs, the most important games and the best players — they will also interview top talent across sports, film, TV and music about their love of football.

“Stick to Football on The Overlap channel has been a huge success, because the show is a conversation about football by people who love the game – just like how fans do right across the world.” said Gary Neville.

“This is no different for those in America, so it’s fantastic we are creating something unique for them. I’m looking forward to joining Carra and Rebecca, along with some great guests, to discuss (and debate!) the biggest talking points from the Premier League and other leagues right across the world, including the MLS. I always admired players who left Manchester United to embrace new challenges abroad. While this wasn’t something I wanted to do personally during my playing career, it’s an opportunity I’m now keen to explore off the pitch.”

Beginning September 18, It’s Called Soccer! will be available to watch on Spotify and YouTube, and listen wherever you get your podcasts. This will be the first series under the Overlap banner to be distributed with video on Spotify, creating even more ways for fans to tune in.
