Belgium now know who they will be facing at next year’s World Cup. The Red Devils will face Iran, New Zealand and Egypt in a group that will see them as favourites to come out on top. Speaking to HLN after the draw, head coach Rudi Garcia was respectful but confident of his sides chances to qualify for the next round. The head coach of Belgium said ‘Our goal is, of course, to win the group, but we respect every opponent’.

Garcia then spoke more in depth about each of their opponents, highlighting a player that he used to coach during his days in Italy with AS Roma. The Red Devils head coach said ‘It’s great to face Mo Salah, because I coached him at AS Roma. We don’t know Iran and New Zealand as well, but we’ll analyze them thoroughly’.

Despite a some indifferent performances during the qualification process, Belgium will be confident that they can come out on top of their group. While each of the other sides in the group should not be underestimated, the Red Devils on paper have a stronger team. The battle for second place in the group should be very interesting, as Iran, Egypt and New Zealand are evenly matched and will bring completely different styles of play to the World Cup.

Belgium kick off their tournament against Egypt, before facing Iran and then finally New Zealand.
