‘It’s special’ – Barcelona star took home the match ball from win over Athletic | OneFootball

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski managed to secure the match ball from the club’s victory over Athletic Club on Saturday.

The Pole confirmed as much following the full-time whistle in Catalunya’s capital.

After being spotted by the media carrying the ball, Lewandowski explained:

“I’m taking this ball home. It’s the first ball at the New Camp Nou. It’s special.”

Lewandowski was for his part amongst the goals this evening, as Barcelona marked their return to the Spotify Camp Nou with a deserved three-point haul.

Buoyed by a joyous crowd of over 40,000, Hansi Flick’s troops ran riot en route to an eventual 4-0 result.

Lewandowski was responsible for opening the scoring early on, before Ferran Torres notched a brace either side of a strike on the part of Man of the Match Fermín López.

Barca, in turn, have joined arch rivals Real Madrid on points atop the La Liga table.
