Joao Pedro claims Chelsea are braver under Liam Rosenior

With Liam Delap only fit enough for the bench after illness, Pedro was tasked with leading the line, and put in a good performance.

As well as his goal which was struck beautifully, it’s arguable Pedro should have had a first half penalty after being clipped in the box.

Pedro has had a mixed season to date, although numbers wise he’s done well and has eight goals and four assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking after the game the Brazil international spoke about the impact new head coach Rosenior has had, and revealed he’s encouraged the team to be braver.

“He wants us to be brave and play,” he said as quoted by BBC Sport.

“It’s very good for us because we have talent.”

Pedro will likely find himself in the starting line-up for the crucial Champions League clash against Pafos on Wednesday night, which the Blues must win if they are going to finish in the top eight.

Chelsea also have Delap and Marc Guiu as options in the number nine role, and Pedro has spoken about the competition between him and the former Ipswich striker.

“It’s not competition in a bad way,” he added.
