Chelsea won today, and that’s all that matters. But the big picture remains a little worrying.
Cole Palmer’s poor form continues – he looks unfit, unhappy, and despite now having been back for a while doesn’t look to be getting any better.
Liam Rosenior was asked to address his star man’s form after the game, and denied that Palmer was “frustrated.”

“No, Cole, if you watch the last 15 minutes of the game and you watch the energy he puts into his press and his running for the team, I thought he was outstanding,” Rosenior said.
“It’s impossible for any player or any team to be magnificent with the ball in every game, but you can still find a way to win. The other thing I would say about Cole and Reece [James] as well, they haven’t trained. They’ve had no training time because they put themselves up. I couldn’t play them against Arsenal. I’m so proud of them because they put themselves up and they ran themselves into the ground. They’ve had no training time with the knocks they picked up, which shows me a fantastic attitude and the more games and the more training sessions they get now, the better they’ll perform.
That may well all be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that Palmer obviously is frustrated. Just look at his non-celebration after he scored the penalty. He knows better than anyone that he’s not at his best.
One player who did NOT impress was Alejandro Garnacho, who had a great chance to earn a starting spot today but didn’t do nearly enough.
Rosenior also spoke about Enzo Fernandez and his showing for the Blues today, suggesting that his attacking midfielder should have something very specific for dinner tonight after two great, energetic performances.
