Roberto Di Matteo has been speaking to France 24 about Chelsea’s transfer model, and how important it is for the Blues to start buying experienced players as well as young talents.
“I think it’s vital. If you want to have a little bit more consistency, if you want to be able to challenge, maybe for the Premier League, you need to have a good balance,” the Champions League winner said.
“You need very good, young, talented players, but you also need a little bit of experience within the team.”
He claimed it was good news that co-owner Behdad Eghbali had acknowledged that this week.
We too are glad that Eghbali and his fellow owners have figured this out, and presumably transmitted that message to those below him. But it’s too little, too late. They should have known this from the start – everyone watching this project from the outside did. The sporting directors shouldn’t be in a job in they didn’t.
Taking 4 years to figure it out is more criminal than getting it wrong in the first place.
Alejandro Garnacho has been slammed by a former coach for his terrible attitude – he looks like another dreadful signing.
Cole Palmer’s bad form has been blamed on Liam Rosenior, who certainly hasn’t helped, but we see the origins much further back.
