Ivan Leko confident Club Brugge can sign Andreas Schjelderup, praises Benfica winger’s qualities | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Ivan Leko still believes Club Brugge can strike a deal for Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup and has placed full trust in the board to deliver.

The coach, whose side finished 19th in the Champions League and reached the competition’s play-offs, spoke glowingly about the Nordic international.

He said scouts proposed the player weeks ago and that within 10 minutes of watching, it was clear the winger had something special.

Asked about negotiations, Leko said the board are handling the matter and he knows the Benfica player is very good. He added that Brugge remain keen despite the Portuguese club’s firm stance.

Leko said he trusts the hierarchy completely and expects the team to be stronger in five days when the window closes.

Schjelderup, valued at 14 million euros, has made 26 appearances for Benfica this season, 13 in Liga Portugal Betclic, eight in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. He has registered four goals and three assists in 1,236 minutes, and was the standout in Benfica’s win over Real Madrid.
