‘I’ve seen similar’ – Xabi Alonso compares his Real Madrid situation to Ancelotti & Mourinho | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week compared the pressure he is facing early in his Blancos career to that endured by the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, and José Mourinho.

Tactician Alonso is for his part of course facing up to a trying situation in Spain’s capital at present.

After a positive opening to his debut campaign on the Real Madrid bench, the former midfielder has since overseen a trio of successive fixtures without a victory.

Not only the results, but the overall level of performance put forth by his side has culminated in heavy criticism on the part of the Blancos faithful.

Some, in fact, are already going as far as to call for Alonso to be sent on his way.

Faced by the media ahead of leading his players back into action against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, the subject of the mounting pressure on his shoulders was therefore put to Alonso himself.

And the Spanish tactician appeared calm in his response, assuring:

“This situation isn’t a first in Real Madrid history. I’ve seen similar things happen to Mourinho and to Ancelotti here.”
