Jack Harrison addresses Leeds United loans and fan reaction in farewell message | OneFootball

Jack Harrison accepted that his two loan departures from Leeds after relegation were hard for supporters to take, as he says goodbye following a permanent move to New England Revolution.

The player said in a post that going out on loan was not easy and he understood many fans found it difficult, adding that Leeds became his home after he arrived in 2018 and his respect for the club never changed. He said he wanted Leeds to succeed and is proud to see the club back in the Premier League, signing off with "Marching On Together".

Harrison’s eight-year stay ended on Saturday with a switch to MLS. Much of his last three seasons were spent out on loan, with two spells at Everton and a six-month stint at Fiorentina in January.

Both Everton moves followed him activating a relegation-linked release clause after Leeds dropped into the Championship at the end of 2022/23, a route taken by several teammates. The loan exits strained his relationship with sections of the fanbase.

He had been a key figure in Leeds’ 2019/20 Championship title win, then helped Marcelo Bielsa’s side finish ninth in the Premier League the following season.

Messages of support followed his farewell, with former captain Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford among those wishing him well. Illan Meslier, now at Arsenal, and Tyler Roberts also commented.

Harrison is the last member of the 2019/20 title-winning squad to depart, joining summer exits Meslier and Pascal Struijk. Only Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt remain from Bielsa’s era.
