Jack Wilshere has dismissed the prospect of leaving Luton Town for Leicester City this summer after being linked with the vacancy.
He was understood to be among those approached during City’s search. BBC Sport reported last month that he had been of interest at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester ran an extensive process after last season before appointing Russell Martin on a three-year deal. Gary Rowett was also considered despite failing to keep the club in the Championship.
Wilshere took charge at Kenilworth Road in October, finished a point outside the League One play-offs and won the EFL Trophy in April.
During pre-season he declined to address the reports, saying it would not be fair given how happy he is and how grateful he feels to the board, chief executive Gary Sweet and operations director James Mooney for backing him.
He added that his focus is entirely on Luton, that he loved last season and that he is excited by what has been built and what can come next.
Luton and Leicester are expected to contend in League One this season. Both were relegated in successive years from the Premier League and missed immediate promotion. Bookmakers make City favourites alongside Sheffield Wednesday, with Luton next and Stockport County and Plymouth Argyle close behind.
