Jacobo Ramón has turned down a summer return to Real Madrid, choosing to keep thriving at Como as he prioritises regular football.

According to Superdeporte, the centre-back, a Real Madrid academy graduate, has become an important figure in Italy and sees that responsibility as key to his development.

He joined Como 14 months ago after leaving Madrid, with the club buying 50% of his rights for about 2.5 million euros. After an adaptation year, he has stepped up and currently enjoys the trust of Cesc Fàbregas.

Madrid monitored his progress and weighed up bringing him back to reinforce their defence, but Ramón opted to stay, focusing on minutes, experience and maintaining a leading role. The Bernabéu side retain an option to re-sign him at season’s end for around 9 million euros.
