Jacques Ekomié has flown to England and is set to leave Angers for Wrexham. The 23-year-old Gabonese defender travelled on Tuesday to finalise the move.

According to L'Équipe, the clubs have agreed a fee slightly above eight million euros, excluding bonuses, with Angers having targeted 10 million euros.

The move is set to close one of Angers’ major summer dossiers.

Wrexham, a Welsh club in England’s second tier, have climbed from the fifth division to the Championship in just four seasons.

The transfer ranks among the five biggest in Wrexham’s history. The club were bought in 2021 by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

On top of bonuses, Angers will receive a sell-on percentage. Hamburg had also shown interest in Ekomié.
