Leeds United sealed a late loan move for Jean-Matteo Bahoya as the window shut, and Jaka Bijol reflected on the clamour around deadline day.
“I keep a check on it on the phone. It’s everywhere these days already. You get so many [pieces of] information so quickly as well. Of course, I’d say it’s harder not to see it or harder not to hear it, especially in this environment that we are in,” he told BBC Radio Leeds on Wednesday morning.
“The last transfer [of Bahoya], I went to sleep last night before that, so I missed it. I saw that one in the morning. But, of course, you keep up to date.”
Bahoya has joined from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan, with an obligation to buy for £19.7million if a clause is triggered, and the total package could reach £26m.
Leeds announced the deal at 12:45 AM on Wednesday, following an earlier deadline-day addition of Melvin Bard.
His arrival adds balance to Daniel Farke’s frontline after the departures of Largie Ramazani to Burnley and Wilfried Gnonto to Fiorentina.
Supporters stayed up beyond the 11 PM deadline, while some team-mates woke to a new face at breakfast.
