James Rodríguez remains a free agent and continues to be linked with Club América.

According to Americayya.net, his name had been on América’s agenda even before his move to León, talk has resurfaced now he can sign without a fee, and Colombian media have claimed his agent offered him to the club with a willingness to lower his salary.

The Colombian playmaker once operated at elite level with Real Madrid. Since leaving Madrid his career has trended downwards, with numerous moves over the past six years.

He has played for Bayern Munich in Germany, Everton in England, Al-Rayyan in Qatar, Olympiacos in Greece, São Paulo in Brazil, Rayo Vallecano in Spain, León in Mexico and Minnesota United in the United States.

Being offered is different from being close to signing, and there are no indications of advanced talks.

A deal could happen because he is a free agent with proven quality, however he is not in the coaching staff’s plans. If anything were to materialise, it would be a board-led decision.
