Jamie Vardy will play his final game as a Leicester City player against Ipswich Town this weekend.

The decision has been made to make this weekend’s fixture at the King Power Stadium the forward’s final game with the club. Vardy has announced he will leave Leicester when his contract expires in the summer, curtailing a 13-year career with the Foxes.

This weekend’s fixture with already-relegated Ipswich will be his 500th and final appearance, with Leicester choosing to give Vardy a home send-off. He will play no part when Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team travel to Bournemouth on the final day.

Vardy has scored 199 goals in all competitions for Leicester and will be hoping to reach the 200-mark in his last Leicester outing. He is the third-highest scorer in the club’s history, behind Arthur Chandler (273) and Arthur Rowley (265).

He was a crucial part of the Leicester sides that won the Premier League (2015/16) and FA Cup (2020/21) for the first time in the club’s history. During that former triumph, he scored 24 league goals to win the FWA Footballer of the Year award. That season also included a record-breaking 11 consecutive Premier League games with a goal.
