Jamie Vardy’s Leicester City habit is catching attention at Cremonese

It's clear to see that the ex-England international has not changed his ways one bit from his Leicester days despite his advancing years...

Leicester City have had somewhat of a turbulent return to the Championship following last year's relegation straight back from the Premier League - and you can imagine the presence and leadership of Jamie Vardy at the King Power Stadium is being missed greatly.

After 13 long years with the Foxes following his 2012 move from Fleetwood Town, Vardy's time at City came to an end at the close of the 2024-25 season, with the experienced ex-England international choosing to move on to a new challenge on his own accord, despite at the time being 38 years of age, where any other player you'd expect to be winding down their playing days.

Not Vardy, though. With a number of clubs linked to the services of the speedy striker, he ended up making a surprise move to Italy to join Serie A outfit Cremonese, who were promoted the previous season through the Serie B play-offs.

And it's fair to say that Leicester are missing him back in the Championship. Whilst the experienced Jordan Ayew has made some impact, Zambia international Patson Daka has continued to struggle, and the season-long loan of Feyenoord's Julian Carranza was terminated after he failed to register a league goal for City.

Whilst Leicester's attackers are somewhat struggling, Vardy is continuing to thrive at the age of 39 over in Italy's top flight.

Cremonese currently sit 11th in the Serie A, with Vardy featuring in all-but two league matches, proving that despite the fact he will be 40 next year, he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down with his energy.

Five league goals have been notched too, with the eye for goal not being lost whatsoever - and he's taken some of his key beliefs and traits over from Leicester to Cremona.

“He drinks a fair amount of Red Bull," Vardy's Cremonese team-mate Romano Floriani has revealed, as per The Sun.

“We have a fridge the height of a person that’s full of Red Bull.

"I think he drinks it every day but he manages brilliantly. When he trains it seems like he’s much younger.”

The initial reports of Vardy's unusual pre-match routines emerged from his autobiography, where he revealed that the night before a match during the 2015-16 title-winning Premier League season he would drink alcoholic beverage Port from a Lucozade bottle whilst relaxing,

Added to that, during EURO 2016, Vardy also revealed his Red Bull drinking habits, saying that he'd drink three cans before a match, which would help him to charge around the pitch in the manner that he does.

That has seemingly carried on ever since, and despite nearly being in his 40s, it's clearly helping Vardy to be the player that he still is.

Leicester City will wish Jamie Vardy stayed and retired with the Foxes - they miss him

Whilst it appears that it was Vardy's decision to move on from his long-term alliance with Leicester last year, perhaps due to the frustrations of the 2024-25 season bringing his time at the club to a natural conclusion, City could've really done with the veteran striker remaining at the club.

The star performers this season have been loanee midfielder Jordan James and winger Abdul Fatawu, and putting Vardy in with those two would've made Marti Cifuentes' side a more dangerous unit in the Championship, as opposed to the inconsistent side that they currently are.

For Leicester fans though, they'll still be delighted that Vardy is thriving in such a big league like Serie A - it's the least that he deserves.
