Vincent Janssen, take a bow. After only joining the club at the end of July, the Dutchman has certainly won over the fandom after a heroic Saturday performance.

Portland Timbers hosted Minnesota United, where fans were treated to a thriller, courtesy of a hat-trick and an assist from the 32-year-old centre forward.

The first of his three goals came from the penalty spot.

Janssen then delivered an assist to set up Ariel Lassiter, who blasted the ball into the net from range only 10 minutes later.

Janssen's brace arrived when he pulled off a tough finish from close range, roofing the ball into the top of the net.

Despite being up 3-0, Minnesota rallied back with three of their own, leaving things level near the hour mark. 

However, Janssen stepped up a third time almost immediately after as he received the ball near the penalty spot, swivelled and scored all in one smooth motion.

The solo performance also goes down as the first-ever MLS hat trick for the club.

Not a bad start to life in Portland!
