United States

The USMNT's next generation arrived on Saturday, delivering a 4-1 win over Peru at Orlando City's Inter.co Stadium.

MLS homegrown forwards Justin Ellis (Orlando) and Julian Hall (Red Bull New York) scored on their debuts. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Union star Cavan Sullivan became one of the USMNT's youngest-ever players at 16 years and 363 days.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino called in 13 MLS players as the 2030 World Cup cycle begins, including eight who are 21 years or younger.

That decision looks incredibly astute, with the youngsters eager to impress alongside veterans like Tyler Adams, Malik Tillman and Gio Reyna.

Chile

Chile's first match of the 2030 World Cup cycle didn't go to plan, as they finished with nine men during a 1-0 defeat vs. Canada at Toronto FC's BMO Field.

Lucas Cepeda (35') and Gabriel Suazo (50') were both red-carded, leaving La Roja chasing the game after Jonathan David's 12th-minute opener.

Columbus Crew striker Gonzalo Tapia played 62 minutes in the setback, and Atlanta United defender Paulo Díaz was an unused substitute.

Chile last played at the World Cup in 2014, back when CF Montréal forward Alexis Sánchez starred alongside goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, midfielder Arturo Vidal and forward Eduardo Vargas.
