Javi Manquillo is set for a fresh chance at Newcastle this season.
Chronicle Live says Manquillo started the summer under the knife in Madrid to solve a niggling injury.
But since then he has slowly returned to the picture and his chances of game-time increased on the back of Emil Krafth's potentially season ending injury. Manquillo will now be the back-up right full-back at Newcastle for the first half of the campaign.
Initially signed as a budget option - for just £4million from Atletico Madrid - Manquillo has been something of a survivor at Newcastle. Arriving pre-takeover in 2017, he has quietly clocked up 92 Premier League appearances.
