Leeds United left-back Jayden Lienou, 18, has earned his first senior Wales call-up in 2026 after impressing for the Under-21s.
According to Leeds Live, he joined in July 2025 after time with Everton and Manchester City. He was in City’s Under-18 Premier League-winning squad and signed a three-year deal to 2028.
Born on 8 April 2008 in Wigan, he has a Cameroonian father and an English-Welsh mother. He is eligible to represent England, Wales or Cameroon.
A left-footer who primarily plays at left-back, Lienou can also cover at centre-back. Coaches highlight his mobility, physicality and significant upside.
He became a mainstay for the Under-21s in 2025/26, logging more than 1,600 minutes across 19 starts in Premier League 2. He also featured in the National League Cup and the EFL Trophy.
The teenager was named on the bench for two of Leeds’ final three Premier League matches, against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, covering injuries to Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle. He trains regularly with the first team.
A regular through Wales’ youth pathway, he was recently picked for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship squad. Craig Bellamy named him in the senior squad in May 2026 and he was among the substitutes for June’s friendly with Ghana.
