Exeter City drew 3-3 in a thrilling match away to Peterborough United, notable for an incredible eight minutes from striker Jayden Wareham.
The Grecians were 1-0 down at the break but Wareham levelled things soon after the restart. Eight minutes later he had completed his hat-trick to make it 1-3 to the visitors.
Although Exeter couldn't hold off a Posh fight back, Wareham's incredible three goals have set a new record for the 2025/26 season in the top four tiers.
Before Saturday, the fastest hat-trick of the season came in the Championship. Back in October, Kieffer Moore levelled the game for Wrexham in the 60th minute and they were 3-1 up by the time he had completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute.
Those 23 minutes were ahead of the likes of Cole Palmer scoring three against Wolves in 25 minutes and Callum Paterson bagging a hat-trick against Shrewsbury Town in 26 minutes.
The 22-year-old Wareham, who joined Exeter from Reading in the summer, is now on 17 goals for the season, his best return so far.
Had Wareham not managed a third then remarkably the hat-trick record for the season would have been broken last weekend anyway.
Not long after the Exeter man got his third of the day, Jack Payne was just beginning his hat-trick as Colchester United beat Barnet 4-1 at home
Payne made it 2-1 in the 75th minute from the spot and completed his hat-trick 19 minutes later in the fourth minute of stoppage time – although right now he'll have to settle for a silver medal in the hat-trick speed race.
