Jean-Pierre Rivère has returned as OGC Nice president and says he will not pause his political work while in the role. He maintains both activities will remain separate during a short stint back at the club.

According to L'Équipe, he is campaigning for Nice city hall alongside Éric Ciotti, who is backed by the Rassemblement National, and plans to leave the club again in spring. His interim spell is essentially limited to the campaign, which runs to March.

The arrangement has prompted questions over whether a club president can also hold a prominent political role in a city of around 350,000 people. Rivère says there is no incompatibility, framing his return as a mission confined to the league season.

He added that he would not put his political activity on hold, saying he has two separate responsibilities and asking for the focus to remain on the club.

To avoid any crossover, he said after his first press conference that he preferred to step back from media appearances. He does not plan to speak publicly for a while.
