Jhon Arias is undergoing medical checks in England as part of final formalities and is expected in Brazil next week to present himself at Palmeiras' Academia de Futebol.
According to Globo.com, the Colombian signed a pre-contract with the Alviverde on Thursday, setting out terms while a four-year deal worth €25 million, around R$ 154 million, is finalised.
Capable of operating wide or through the middle, he is being lined up for roles currently filled by Allan and Maurício.
Palmeiras have pursued Arias for some time, making an approach, albeit without a formal bid, early last year, but Fluminense declined to negotiate. Six months later he moved to Wolverhampton for €17 million.
With Wolverhampton struggling and bottom of the Premier League, Palmeiras chose to revive their push. Talks with the player began in January, they reached figures and in February submitted the proposal to Wolverhampton.
Those terms priced Fluminense out. The Rio club had a purchase preference if they matched the offer, but, while focusing on other priorities, they went up to €20 million, which Wolverhampton rejected, allowing Palmeiras to advance.
He arrives as Palmeiras' second signing for 2026 after Marlon Freitas, with the club still seeking a centre-back and a defensive midfielder.
