Jhonson on striker rivalry, counting on Corinthians fans in Copa

Throughout this Tuesday (26), Corinthians departed directly from Guarulhos airport to London, England, for the first edition of the Copa das Campeãs (Women's Club World Cup). The Brabas will make their debut in the tournament next Wednesday (28) at 9:30 am (Brasília time), against Gotham FC from the United States, at the Gtech Community Stadium, in the semifinals of the competition. If they advance to the final, they will face Arsenal, the current Champions League champion, or ASFAR from Morocco.

In an interview with the portal Meu Timão shortly before departure, the 20-year-old forward Jhonson shared her expectations for the competition and anticipated the support of the Corinthians fans in London. The local organized Corinthians supporters – Fiel Londres – are preparing a series of actions for the team's time on English soil: “Thank God for being here, the youngest on the team. I am very anxious, I won't lie. I'm a little nervous, but that will pass. It's about maintaining concentration. Very happy to know that they (Corinthians fans) will be present, supporting us not only at the hotel but also in the stadiums. This is very important for us, to showcase our work,” she began.

Later, she was asked about Gotham FC and spoke about the Brabas' reunion with forward Gabi Portilho, who played for Corinthians between 2020 and 2024, winning 15 titles (Brasileirão, Libertadores, Supercopa, Copa Paulista, and Campeonato Paulista). The young player recalled her time with Portilho in the Brazilian National Team (she was first called up by Arthur Elias in 2025).

“We worked a lot, studied a lot, just as they studied us. Total focus, to show our work and our strength on the field, with the teams and the staff. We worked hard and I believe it will go well. I didn't get to talk to them, because I'm very reserved. I have trained with Portilho, yes. A 'cool' girl, fun to be around. But I didn't get to talk. She is focused on her team, and we are on ours“, she continued.

Finally, she analyzed the increased competition in the Brabas' attack, especially after the arrivals of Rhaizza and Belén Aquino, who were at Bahia and Internacional, respectively: “They come here with the same goal as I do: to take Coringão further. To show work, determination, and passion for the jersey. There is no rivalry. If they come in and do a good job, that's what matters. If I come in and do a good job, that's also what matters. We are here for the same goal”, she concluded.

Since 2023 at Corinthians, Jhonson had a start plagued by injuries and, in 2025, established herself as one of the main players of the Brabas' first team. In total, she has played 44 games (26 as a starter) with the Corinthians jersey, achieving 28 wins, 12 draws, and four losses – a 72.7% success rate, with 19 goals scored and three assists. Additionally, she won: Paulistão (2023), Libertadores and Brasileirão, both in 2025.
