Jill Scott completes 388-mile Sports Relief challenge in Sunderland

Jill Scott completed a 388-mile running and cycling challenge, finishing her five-day Sports Relief effort in her home city of Sunderland.

According to Sunderland Echo, crowds gathered along the route on Friday afternoon as she crossed the County Durham border into East Rainton, then headed up the A690 into the city centre.

Support swelled along the road, with well-wishers greeting her near The Board Inn as momentum built towards the finish.

The 39-year-old England football legend reached the Stadium of Light to complete the journey, acknowledging the reception as she crossed the line.

Pictures from the day show Scott smiling and giving a thumbs up at the finish as the city celebrated her homecoming.
