Joachim Eickmayer signs two-and-a-half-year deal with Bastia

Joachim Eickmayer has joined Bastia on a two-and-a-half-year contract after leaving Red Star, with the Ligue 2 side currently bottom.

According to L'Équipe, the 33-year-old completed his medical on Sunday morning before signing for Sporting Club de Bastia. He departs Red Star with six months remaining on his deal.

Bastia have taken seven points from their last four matches, reigniting their survival bid. They are now four points behind Amiens, who occupy the relegation play-off place.

Eickmayer has made 12 appearances for Red Star this season, registering one assist.

He now faces one of the final major challenges of his career, helping Bastia avoid the drop.
