Joan Laporta provide update on Barcelona return to Spotify Camp Nou

Barcelona are still awaiting their return to the Spotify Camp Nou, which will no longer happen this weekend. Club officials had hoped to be back home for Sunday’s match against Valencia, but that will now be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

That was another disappointing blow for Barcelona in their efforts to return to the Spotify Camp Nou, although there is still confidence that they will receive the necessary approval in time to play their Champions League league phase matches at their own stadium, rather than at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

In the meantime, work continues to ensure that Barcelona will be back playing at the Spotify Camp Nou sooner rather than later. And on the matter, club president Joan Laporta gave a short update during his attendance at the traditional floral offering to the monument of Rafael Casanova on the occasion of the National Day of Catalonia, as per Diario AS.

“We will return to the Camp Nou as soon as possible. We are really looking forward to returning.”

Barcelona are desperate to make Spotify Camp Nou return

It is no secret that Barcelona are determined to return to the Spotify Camp Nou as soon as possible – and not only for sporting benefits, but financial ones too. The Catalan club are losing a lot of money every time one of their home matches is not at the stadium, so there is a real desire to be back as soon as possible, as this will help with their well-documented financial problems.

It remains to be seen when Barcelona are back at the Spotify Camp Nou, but time is running out in their efforts to ensure that they are at the stadium for the entirety of their Champions League campaign, which gets underway in Catalonia with a mouth-watering match-up against Paris Saint-Germain in October.
