Joao Gomes thanks Wolves after 38 million Villa switch | OneFootball

Joao Gomes has thanked Wolves after completing a 38 million move to Aston Villa across the West Midlands.

In a video message, the Brazilian said the club helped him develop on and off the pitch. He added that, while the club’s Premier League relegation made the timing far from ideal, he leaves proud of his efforts.

He departs after three and a half years at Molineux and 130 appearances, stating he gave his best in every training session and game.

Gomes will keep supporting Wolves and remains grateful to the club and city.

He has described his work with the Wolves Foundation as his greatest legacy at Molineux, having been a regular at its activities.

The former Flamengo midfielder took particular interest in the Wolf Words project, visiting schools where the scheme supports children with speech and language difficulties. Gomes has a stammer.

He was named a PFA community champion earlier this year and was the club’s community player of the year last season. He will miss it.
